Autumn Term at AceSpace, Newbury:
2 October — 27 November 2017
The group was set up and is run by Lisa Brown MA who has been teaching life drawing since 2002, as well running her current professional practice. She aims to deliver both traditional and forward thinking, inspiring classes with artists using a variety of mediums. Easels, basic paper and basic materials are provided and included in the price.
Lisa describes SketchPad as "well established groups of local artists who use the life model to explore and develop their own unique styles”. It is probably this friendly and informal atmosphere which gives both new and experienced artists the freedom to explore their own creative individuality. Lisa very much believes that there is an artist in everyone and that the relaxed environment of SketchPad drawing allows students to develop their own artistic approach using the practice of life drawing.
Not so much a formal lesson and more a 'come for a drink and draw' evening.
Sketchpad Drawing is taught by Lisa Brown, a mixed media artist who studied Fine Art MA, Winchester School of Art.
Sculpture BA (Hons) and at the Chelsea School of Art. She has been teaching Fine Art and Life Drawing in London since 2002. She is a member of the South London Women Artists and an artist facilitator for ActionSpace London Events Ltd.
Lisa creates conceptual pieces from found and handmade objects, creating large scale drawings, etchings, writing poetry and film making, with an emphasis on experiential art. Her work has its basis in her understanding of the human condition as a woman, a mother and a wife. Her background centred on casting from the human form. She has exhibited throughout the UK.
